  1. To me personally, literature and art are both forms that allow a person to express themselves on a deeper level. Literature provides people with a way to spread knowledge around so that others reading or viewing it can understand it more effectively. Literature as well as art gives the world a new perspective and causes the mind to wander away from its original thought process. Art and literature are both apparent and thriving in all aspects of society. Communication would not be possible if literature and art were non existent. The word of mouth can only go so far.

  2. I believe that literature and art both express the same meaning. It is a creation the mind precieves and enables you to express yourself one way or another. Art is a creation that can lead your mind wherever on a specific object or materials. literature is same in creativity not not literal. Literature, you can express more about language and the craft of writing.

  3. Literature and art means different things to different people. Everyone can agree that they are both a form of expression and allows an individual to spread a message with and without words. To me, literature is a classic book or play that is taught in school and they have something special about them that separates them from all of the other published books. Most of the literature I have read in school came with a message about government and how its citizens are treated. I think most people think of art as a visual piece of work such as a painting or sculpture which I agree with, but I think art can also be anything you create. Whether it’s a painting or a script, I think anything can be considered a work of art.

  4. Literature is having a way with words. It is being able to put words together to create a feeling or emotion through poetry, stories, or plays. Literature is commonly taught in schools which is difficult because any piece of art triggers different emotions in every individual. Art is any form of expression whether through painting, sculpting, poetry, music, ect. It is the broad term for creating something. Different types of art can awaken different meanings and emotions that an individual could not have experienced yet. Its all relatively the same, individuals expressing themselves through different forms of media.

  5. I believe that literature is works of writings that will help you travel through time. Literature can take you to new places, help you to discover new interests, or share in experience with a story. Literature creates opportunity by opening up doors that lead to new ideas. Art to me is the open expanse of the mind through actions. Art is the expression of a passion to create. Art, whether found in a painting, sculpture, piece of literature or music, will spark emotions that will make you feel as if you were connected with it.

  6. Art and literature are a very important part of our cultural appreciation as human beings. These allow us the ability to express ourselves and appreciate beauty. Literature is any form of writing that serves a purpose. That purpose could be to entertain, to inform, or just to make happy. Literature can be a play, a poem, a textbook, a diary, or anything with words on a paper that serves a purpose. Art is a form of expression that can be taken in many different ways. Art can be interpreted as music, paintings, drawings, ideas, or any creative outlet. Without art and literature our world (as we know it) would not be possible and one thing would be very certain: we would not be the people we are today. - Brittany Clemmons

  7. Literature has always been extremely important to me. It gives me a wide range of knowledge and opinion that I can apply to real life situations. I have always had a way with words. Literature is crucial in developing an intelligent mindset. Being naive and single minded is very dangerous. It is important because writing teaches you things that stay with you forever. Literature can make you feel anything you want. Art fascinates me because it is an expression of emotion or a story without using words. Art has shaped and molded many cultures. It can also inspire you.

  8. Literature is a communication of ideas. It allows people to preserver the knowledge and technology of a civilization beyond a single generation. Literature can be art, however art is not always literature. Art is more of a singular expression by a human. Certain types of literature accomplish this and so can be considered art. Yet Literature can be so much more than art. It can capture a story, while at the same time teaching a lesson. The versatility of unrestricted literature surpasses nearly every form of media in existence. It allows the complete expression and spread of idea.

  9. Art is a very pure form of expression of creativity. Anything that allows someone to channel their creativity in a non harmful way is art. Without art, humans would be very boring, repressed creatures. Literature is a form of art. It is creativity expressed through words, woven together to become something great. There are many kinds of literature, but they all are expressing an idea or story through syntax.

  10. Literature is defined as "writings in which expression and form, in connection with ideas of permanent and universal interest, are characteristic or essential features, as poetry, novels, history, biography, and essays." Art is defined as "the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance." Literature can be viewed as a form of art. Through literature the author of a work is able to express his or her views and feelings through words, and embed deeper meanings through their work as well.

  11. Literature and art are both forms of expression. They both give the creator an immortality that lives on in there work. In literatures case this is through the written word. It could be texts, reports, pamphlets etc. Literature is the communication of information. Art is the less inteligent form of communication. What is art? Anything can be an art form and therefor diminishes the rest of it. Maybe its just me but literature has a place in my heart where as art is dead.

  12. Literature and art are both mediums of expression. Literature allows people to express emotions and ideas with words, while art uses colors and textures to express the same things. Some people could describe pieces of literature as art. Literature and art both evoke emotion whether positive or negative and both inspire others. They are both interpreted different ways by each individual person.

  13. I believe art is a way people can express themselves. Art allows people to put what they see in their head on paper. Art doesn’t have to be just drawing either, art can be expressed in many different ways. I think literature is one of those ways for people to express themselves. Literature is expressed through words that can be put in many different ways to become art. I believe literature and art mean the same thing because art means to express what you feel, and I believe this can be done through literature.

  14. Literature is being able to envoke emotion or take a person on a journey through written words where as art has to do with more concrete manifestations. Although art and literature may appear to be two different entities there are instances when they can intertwine. Art and literature share a dichotomy of general conception and personal conception and can both take you places that you've never imagined.

  15. Literature is defined as any written piece of work. It may be a short story, book, magazine, news article, etc. I think of literature as a form of enjoyment. If it is a rainy, cloudy day and I have the day off work, I will usually be in a coffee shop or on the couch reading a book. I also find it educational in many ways. Not only does your vocabulary improve, but you can learn a lot of information about history, the economy, and just life around us in general. Art is the expression or application of creative skill and imagination. Art is typically visual but it can also be lyrical. I am not a huge fan of visual art unless I see it as a good piece to put in my apartment that is relatively inexpensive, but that is hard to find. My main art form would be music. I listen to several genres of music depending on what mood I am in, and will definitely say that some music makes it hard for me to call art (Justin Beiber).

  16. Art is the expression of humans through creativity that forms uniqueness and a sense of identity. Literature is a form of creative writing that creates feelings and thoughts that are not achievable by the teaching of facts through science. I like to think of literature as a form of art because it is the same as art in definition other than it is more specified in description. Literature has sparked some of the great thinkers in history to be able to express themselves in unimaginable ways that have influenced others to think in certain ways. Both have no limits and always will be able to expand in all forms.

  17. Literature is simply anything that is written to describe art or a subject. literature can be anything ranging from books to magazines, as long as it is describing a subject or topic that the author wants you to know about. Art can be anything, whether its a poem, song, or a painting. Art is way for people to express themselves through whatever they wish to use. I also think literature and art are kind of the same thing. They both are ways for people to express themselves.

  18. Literature is a form of art that is written, a person's ideas, thoughts, a biography, story, etc. I enjoy literature, I love seeing what others were thinking at a given point in time, or reading about an event that happened at a given point in time, it allows you to feel what other people felt. Art allows people to express themselves through drawing, singing, acting, etc. I used to like going to art exhibits when I was younger, and looking at the artwork, there is an immense amount of talent that goes into making a painting. I really do not care for any specific genre of music, but I do enjoy listening to different genres.

  19. Art and literature are both ancient old forms of expression. Literature is expression through writing and text that usually conveys knowledge, ideologies, or stories. Art is expression through a physical presentation or piece. Arguably, literature is art. Both share many of the same characteristics and require some level of creativity but the most profound distinction between the two would be the form in which it is created.

  20. Literature is art that is expressed through written words, such as fictional stories, or poems. Literature is used as entertainment or as a way to educate people. Art is an interpretation or creation expressed to demonstrate ones feelings or ideas. Art could be paintings, music, films, sculptures etc. Literature and other forms of art are both important forms of expression that are used to educate and demonstrate ideas.

  21. Art to me is not just seemingly meaning less pictures or statues etc. These relics can illustrate a period in time significant to our generation today. So truly to me art is history and tells of the artists mistakes, the era of their days time and their mistakes as well as thei conquest. Art when analyzed can portray how an entire civilization once lived. Art is also our own interpretation, it does not always have to be in relevance to history. The artist may be implying in his work a totally different message then you and I perceive. For instance, if I look at the Mona Lisa her smug remark could possibly remind me of why she does not want to be painted in the first place. On the other hand anyone else could look at the fine detail and understand the Renaissance in more depth.
